Is therapy right for me?
Seeking therapy is an individual choice that only you will know the answer to. There are various reasons one would choose to participate in therapy at different points in their lives. Ranging from childhood to adulthood, therapy can focus on areas not limited to anxiety, depression, mood regulation, grief and loss, social skills, life skills, assertiveness, motivation, decision-making and conflict resolution. For children, therapy can also be a healthy outlet to express built up thoughts and emotions through play and/or talk therapy. Therapy can be useful for anyone who is willing to improve in these areas and more. Therapy is also a two way street. Coming from a strength-based perspective, I believe that your therapist walks alongside of you to guide you down the right path to work toward your goal. Therefore, if you are ready to make some changes in your life and you would like it to begin now, you have answered the initial question!
If You Have Insurance
Clients should contact their insurance provide to obtain the following information: Are they covered for behavioral or mental health services and can they see an out of network provider. I will provide you with a monthly superbill and you can return it to your insurance provider to seek reimbursement for services.

Am I ready for therapy? I am usually okay handling things on my own
Everyone goes through life changes and challenges. We all have our way of coping with change and dealing with stressors, such as talking to friends and family members, religious institutions, etc. However, for some that may not be enough. Sometimes, it is good to talk or vent to an objective individual that can assist you in increasing your self awareness, emphasizing on your areas of strength and encouraging you to go at your own pace to meet your goal. Therapy can provide you with the opportunity to make a commitment to yourself so that when you reach your goal, you will know that you worked hard for it and earned it.

What is an Empowerment Coach?
An Empowerment Coach motivates you to reach the goal(s) by developing a plan for success. Empowerment Coaching can range from learning life skills (e.g. resume writing, interviewing skills, obtaining employment), assertiveness skills or simply providing you with that extra push you need to reach your goal(s). Coaching will not dive into pass hurt but may visit for the sole purpose to breakthrough current barriers that interfere with you achieving your stated goal.

What is the process of therapy?
It’s quite simple. First you pick up the phone or send me a message on the "Connect With Me" page and make an appointment for an intake. For children, the intake will consist of meeting with one or both legal parents/guardians and the child separately and together. During the intake process, you will be informed of the procedures, such as confidentiality, scheduling your appointments and cost of services. I will then engage in a conversation with you to gather some basic background information and define your reason for seeking therapy. After the intake, we will work collaboratively together to define your therapy goals and start right away working toward them. Thereafter, just be prepared to be motivated and encouraged throughout the process.
I've had therapy in the past and it didn’t work. How will this time be different?
The purpose of therapy is for you to define your goal and work toward it with the assistance and encouragement of your therapist. Ideally, therapy is designed to help you with what you define as your “problem area.” Also the therapist may be deemed the expert in a specific area. However, the relationship between the therapist and client (You) is the basis of the therapeutic process. It sets the foundation for the rest of the treatment and your outlook on how successful you will be at reaching your goal(s). Now you may have had a therapist in the past whom you did not connect with or you believed did not help you the way you wished but you cannot allow those experiences to keep you from reaching YOUR goal! Trial and error only makes you stronger. You will never know your full potential if you don’t try again.
